 I am a walking contradiction.

My scars stemming out like branches where you rest your broken promises knowing they’ll never fall short of my expectations. You rely on my mind to forever grasp the twisted strings of your tiring swing from there nor here . You stay near , but far enough where I can just barely get a glimpse of your beauty .

I rely on your words like the air that I breath , often finding myself gasping for more .

You made a mockery of me . You laughed at my pain . You bathed in my tears and dried your skin with the towels of my despair . You lathered yourself in oils of the fruit I never gave you permission to grab from the branches of my mind . But it was “just fine” . Rip the leaves from my neck & make potions from my sweat . I am the root of all evil and the source of all life .  I am love and hate , darkness and light , fight and flight , weakness and might . I am predator and prey , night and day , I am all . Both big and small .

I am a black woman .
